[Concept]sedimentary rock formation
My concept is designed around the clients spirit of creation and evolution. Based on their lifestyles they are interested in evolving: oneself, the city, their professions, their ideas and creative thoughts, a community, and beyond. I chose sedimentary rock formations because they are continually evolving and building upon each other. The formations are comprised of strata[layers] that as time goes by evolve and develop further. They serve as markers and story tellers. There is a variation in shape and size, however they always grow in the same banded pattern. This layering in turn presents the idea of compression and weight. I want to focus on the idea of being caught between a layer, and the moment of release and progression. These principles and qualities will be shown in my space and will influence the material, light and color choices in these ways:

[material]:
texturized, layered, cold, steel and copper, heavy and weighted, variation and variety, lighter the more they are placed vertically and denser the closer they are to the floor, mixture of small patterns and large, light and dark woods combined to create contrast

[light]
captured, pocketed, imbedded, recessed, when transitioning from one strata to the next less light is let through creating an intimate transfer from one space to the next

[color]
rich earth tones with occasional layers and overlapping of color, dark on the ceiling and floor and lighter towards the center, variation and contrast depending on the layer, more of a contrast at an interval of evolution through the space

constant change : progression : development : levels : growth : stages
