Two Point Perspective

These are examples of two point perspective drawings I did. The first one is my studio desk and the second is my dorm room. I liked two point over one point perspective.

One Point Perspective

These are two examples of one point perspective drawings I did. The fist is my desk in studio and the second is of my tool box on my desk.

Section Drawing

This is the vellum copy of the chapel section cut drawing I did for drafting. First I had to measure the chapel in the book then draw it out first on bod then on vellum. I had to pay attention to line weight to show differences in proximity. Then I poched the drawing as the final step. At the lower left hand corner is a paragraph about conveying depth that I did to practice my lettering.

Elevation

These are two elevation drawings that I did. The first has no line weight and focuses on the basic structure of the building and earth. The second is on vellum and has line weight and poche to define different depths and structures.

Floor Plans

This first drawing is an example of a floor plan that was once 3-d that I transposed to a 2-d view.

These are the same drawing, but the first is on bond nad the second is on vellum. I had to use a scale ruler to measure the lengthes of the lines then double them to make a larger version.

North Arrows

To improve my drafting skills and to help be more creative for my site plans I worked on drawing different north arrows.

Drafting Cubes

These are two examples of the drafting work were doing in class. We had to first draw out the 3-d version and then put together the front, top, and side 2-d views.

Perspective Drawings

In class we have been working on one and two point perspective drawings. The first four photos are ones that I took in my room and around campus in both perspectives. The second set of drawings are ones that I drew myself working with the photos I took. I am pleased with the final product because they show my improvment with drawing.

2-Point Perspective

These are a few of the beginning sketches I did of 2-point perspective work. We focused on the basic idea of vanishing points and shading.

Site Plan-10/28/08

This is an example of a site plan drawing of my house-25906 Rawley Sprngs Drive, Chantilly, Virginia 20152. I took the first image from google earth and then based on measurements and the visual I drew the plan view. After doing the basic outline of the house I added landscaping, and topographic lines to show the increasing or decreasing of the land. I included a key and a north arrow to show which direction the house is facing. I really liked doing the site plan drawing because it is more architecturally drawing based. I added color to my plan so that the viewer has a better idea of what they are viewing, and it helps them differentiate between different objects.

Final 4 SHARPIE

This is the final 4 set of drawings for the sharpie project. I am really pleased at the way it turned out.

SHARPIE!

This project made us really focus on the details of an object. We had to look at a stick and a cell phone and draw parts that make it up. We had to use a sharpie so after about the 100th picture it started to smell pretty bad. First we had to draw 16 views for each, then we had to do 64 based off the 16. The images above are my cell phone, and the ones below are the stick. We focused on simplifying, exaggerating, zooming, and other techniques that would make the most interesting picture.

Light Drawing

This is a drawing of the huge lights in the iarc building. First we had to draw smaller versions of light sources in the building at three different angles. We then had to draw one light source in a full page view. I found the shading really difficult to draw because of the light bouncing off the inner walls of the light.

Lighting Exercise-2

This is another lighting exercise we had to do for class. This time we had to draw three different lighting sources from 3 different angles. The first picture is an example of the light coming into the windows and shining down on the ground. the second is a light post that is outside the building. And the third one is a desk lamp.

Lighting Exercise-1

For drawing class we had to draw three different pieces of hardware we found around the building. The first piece I chose was the light switch because it is simple, yet very interesting. We had to draw each piece in three different techniques, and I chose to post the one I attempted to shade. The next piece I chose was the air vent. The first drawing is the one that I shaded, and the second drawing is done using the contour technique.

More Lettering

This is another example of lettering. This time we had to take quotes and write them all out. It took a longg long time and my hand was killingg at the end.
